I recently had occasion to come across a summary of a study in which researchers discovered that increased levels of oxytocin, usually associated with the warm fuzzies of mother/child bonding and sweet, sweet afterglow, are also associated with a spike in levels of schadenfreude exhibited by victorious test subjects while contemplating the losses of their adversaries.
